BooksAroundUs (booksaroundus.com) helps residents of the same housing society share books with each other. By creating an account you agree to these terms. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
The service
BooksAroundUs is a free platform that connects neighbours. We do not own, sell or deliver books. Lending and borrowing happen directly between members, who arrange pickup and return themselves.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Give accurate details, including the society you live in, and keep them up to date.
- You are responsible for activity on your account. Keep your password private.
Lending and borrowing
- List only books you own and are willing to lend.
- To borrow, you need to have listed at least 3 books, and you can have one active borrow at a time.
- Borrowers should look after books and return them by the due date. Lenders should confirm returns promptly.
- Lost or damaged books are a matter between the lender and borrower; please resolve it fairly between yourselves. BooksAroundUs is not responsible for the condition, loss or value of any book.
Acceptable use
Do not use BooksAroundUs to:
- harass, threaten or abuse other members, in chat or otherwise;
- list illegal, pirated or offensive material;
- advertise, sell unrelated products, or send spam;
- collect other members' personal information or use it for anything other than arranging a borrow;
- interfere with the app's security or normal operation.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Notifications
We send notifications about your own borrowing activity by in-app alerts and email, and, only if you turn them on, by phone push notifications and WhatsApp. You can switch WhatsApp and push notifications off at any time in your profile.
Availability and liability
We provide BooksAroundUs as it is and try to keep it running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee it will always be available or error-free. To the extent permitted by law, BooksAroundUs is not liable for losses arising from dealings between members or from use of the service.
Ending your account
You can stop using BooksAroundUs at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing goodbooksaround@gmail.com. Please return any borrowed books first.
Changes
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page, and announce significant changes in the app.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India.
